Percentages and Comparisons

So we had a pediatrician appointment today. It was their 18 month appointment but they're actually 19 months. They got four shots each including tetanus which they say is worst at causing a fever and sore legs. Poor babies. I hope they make it ok! And I hope I make it ok! The stats below are not adjusted for them being early...but Carter is actually on the charts for weight. YEAH!

Carter
Weight : 21.8 pounds, 4%
Length : 32.48 inches, 45%
Head : 66%

Weston
Weight : 26.19 pounds, 49%
Length : 34.55 inches, 92%
Head : 95%

So they have big heads! And talk about skinny! Haha Carter is 4% for weight and 66% for head :) It also looks like Weston is just about too long for his rear facing seat even though he's supposed to stay put for another seven months. At the appointment we also got some asthma medicine for them. Since the boys are sick so much, Carter gets pretty wheezy sometimes and struggles to breath. The doctor said Weston sounded just as bad today and they'll probably get worse as the tougher colds come on during winter. So thank goodness we have something to do at night when they're sick and they just can't breath!

The boys have been so fun recently. They can be totally frustrating sometimes and practically make me want to run away, but they are so cute and silly too! I need to be careful not to categorize and compare the boys too much, especially in front of them. They are individuals and deserve to be treated that way! But here on the blog which they'll never see, I'll compare them just a little bit.

Weston is saying about ten words including up, uh-oh, mama, dada, book, ball, go, waaa for water, and hi and bye. He is super active, loves to throw and hit things, loves to play with cars, and especially loves to go outside. He is a little bit more whiny than Carter and a little bit more aggressive but he is by no means the dominant one. Carter gives him a run for his money and that's probably why they clash as much as they do. Carter is my little climber. He loves to stand on chairs and the back of the couch and the bed and even tries to climb out of his crib. Scary! Thankfully he's not very good at it. He says hi, bye, momma, dada and the first sounds of a few words like go, close, and book. He has just started getting sad when I leave them with the babysitter or at the gym daycare. He's finally catching on! :) They both love baths and reading books. I've tried to never turn them down when they bring me a book because I know how awesome it is to love reading and I want it to be an enjoyable thing for them. Anyway, that's my update on my two crazy, silly boys!

Our New Green Thumb

This year we built a raised garden bed with our neighbors that live in the apartment next to us. We planted lots of tomatoes, peppers, and squash and some carrots, radishes, lettuce, and spices like basil and cilantro. And what a success it's been! It's so fun to eat fresh vegetables that you've grown. I love it and have no doubt I'll keep planting vegetables every year. It's so worth it.

Alaska Photos Continued

Our campsite right on the edge of the lake.

My brother and sister's new boat. We saw two bears on this short trip.

Hike to Michael's benches.

Awesome.

My sweet niece, Reine. Oh I miss her!

A brief glimpse of the inside of the yurt. Grandpa juggling the babies.

Carter LOVED our dog Shadow. She would lay on her and step on her head and tail...true love!

Yurting with the Hibbyurts

About a year ago, my parents, brother and sister bought a yurt in Anchor Point, about four hours from Anchorage. The yurt is 30 ft in diameter and is one open room with a kitchen and the cabin that's attached has a bedroom and a bathroom. We went to the yurt for a week with my parents and it was fabulous. Halibut fishing is about an hour away by boat and the beach is a minute four-wheel ride away.

We went halibut fishing (and left the boys with my momma, thanks mom!) one of the first days and caught five halibut. We got greedy and threw back the small ones so we only ended up one under our limit. The ones we kept were 15-25 pounds.

The boys LOVED the four wheelers. We would ride very slowly around the yard with them or on dirt roads down to the beach. They would crawl to the four wheelers when we were out by the fire and say, 'vroom vroom!'

Cutie momma and cutie Carter.

Dad tucking Carter into his coat so he could have both hands on the four wheeler.

The boys lovin the rocks at the beach. That is pure joy right there.

Cutie Weston.

Oh they love their grandparents!

More Alaska posts to come!
